Excursions

During the conference the following excursions will take place. Please note that all guides will speak German only.

Excursion "Ruhr Area at Night"
Bustour to interesting sights throughout the Ruhr Area: Old industrial sites in special perspectives. Along the tour,  a guide provides interesting information at each of the places.
Duration: approx. 4 hours. At the end of the tour, you can either go off the bus in Bochum city center or at the University
Fee: 15 € (students 7.50 €)

You will have the opportunity to purchase drinks and a snack on the bus!

Visiting the Deutsches Bergbaumuseum (German Museum of Mining) with tour through replica mine
The Deutsches Bergbaumuseum is the worlds biggest museum of mining and a renowned research institute for the history of coal and steel industry. The guided tour includes visiting the headgear from the former mine "Zeche Germania" in Dortmund-Marten, the exhibition about different technical, cultural and social facets of mining, as well as a walk through the replica mine in a depth of about 20 metres underneath the museum. As the location of the society dinner is close by it can be reached in time afoot.

Tour through the stadium of VfL Bochum (local football club)
The Stadium of VFL Bochum is able to host some 30.000 people and is one of the venues for the womens' Fifa World Cup 2011. Guided tour through the staffed offices, team zones, the Mixed Zone and the VIP area.
Duration: approx. 1-1.5 hours
Fee: 2 €

All excursions are subject to free places due to a maximum number of participants. Therefore you need to register in advance. This can be done along with the registration for the conference or separately at a later date.
